Resume conventions differ by country. A resume that works in the United States can be wrong in Germany, the UK, Japan, or Australia. The Country Guides section helps you format your CV for 41 countries so it matches local expectations.
What each country guide covers
Open any country's guide to learn:
- The right document type - CV versus resume, and what locals call it.
- Photo rules - where photos are expected and where they are banned.
- Date formats - DD/MM/YYYY, MM/YYYY, or another local style.
- Page conventions - one page, two pages, or more.
- Required and banned details - national IDs, date of birth, marital status.
- Local keywords - terminology that hiring managers recognize.
Country examples you can import
Many country guides include three authored example resumes. Like the profession examples, they have Use This Example buttons. Import the matching CV format into the builder with the correct date format and structure already applied.
Adjust date format in the builder
If you build a resume yourself, set the correct date format in the Contact step. The builder stores this setting and applies it everywhere dates appear.
