Autosave, Drafts & Your Data

Your resume saves automatically in your browser as you type. Learn how drafts work, how to start a new CV, and how to reset your local data safely.

Resume Builder HQ saves your work continuously. You never have to click a save button, and closing the tab does not lose your progress. Here is how your data works and how to stay in control of it.

Autosave while you type

Every change you make updates your local draft automatically. This includes new sections, edits, uploaded photos, and design choices. The current draft is always the latest version of your resume.

Where your data lives

Your draft and photos are stored in your browser's local storage. This has a few important consequences:

Nothing is sent to a server, so your data is private to your device.
Your draft persists between visits, even after you close the tab.
Drafts do not sync across devices or different browsers.

Note

Because there is no account, your resume only lives in the browser where you built it. On a shared computer, use Reset Data before you leave to remove your drafts and photos.

Start a new CV

Click New CV in the builder to clear the editor and start a fresh draft. Your resume content is wiped from the draft, and you begin again at the Contact step.

Reset user data

Click Reset Data to permanently delete all saved drafts, photos, and gallery data from this browser. This cannot be undone, so only use it when you are sure you no longer need your saved resumes.

Warning

Copy your final resume to a PDF or Word file before resetting. A PDF lives on your device and is safe to keep, unlike a browser draft.

Back up your draft

The safest backup is your downloaded file. Export your resume as PDF or Word whenever you finish a version, and keep the file somewhere safe. You can then rebuild or continue from that document later if you need to.
